A Weatherly church is hoping to “light the night” as a way to celebrate God and Halloween.

Faith Church, at 202 Carbon St., will hold an event open to all the community from 6-8 p.m. on Oct. 31.

Sean Culp of the church said that there will be games, music, candy for the children and new this year, a pumpkin carving contest.

Anyone wishing to participate should carve a pumpkin and bring it to the church, located in the town plaza by 5:30 p.m.

Residents will then be able to vote for the prettiest and funniest pumpkins in three age groups, 1 to 8 years old; 9-18; and 19 and older.

Two winners will be chosen in each age group and will receive a prize. There is no cost to enter.

Winners will be announced Nov. 1 on the What’s Happening in Weatherly Facebook Page. Winners will also be contacted by phone.
