Local Roundup: Results from Oct. 7

The Jim Thorpe boys and the Northern Lehigh girls both posted soccer wins on Saturday.

BOYS SOCCER

Jim Thorpe-Palmerton

Jim Thorpe scored five first-half goals and then coasted to a 7-0 non-league victory over Palmerton.

Cael Heaney had two goals and a pair of assist for the Olympians, who improved to 10-6.

The winners also received two goals and an assist from Ehren Hassler, while Noah Geiser collected a goal and three helpers.

Kaden Spence added to the onslaught with a pair of goals. Conor Holland, meanwhile, chipped in with an assist.

Thorpe goalie Liam Off made five saves to earn the shutout.

The Blue Bombers ended their season at 5-12.

GIRLS SOCCER

No. Lehigh-Jim Thorpe

Katelyn Barthold had a hat trick to help power Northern Lehigh to a 5-1 non-league victory over Jim Thorpe.

Barthold added an assist as the Bulldogs improved to 10-5.

The winners also received tallies from both Victoria Hanna and Mikayla Gordon.

Thorpe’s lone goal was scored by Maddie Hill, while Sarah Hartman earned the assist. Olympian keeper Olivia Rosenberger ended with 17 saves.

The loss dropped Jim Thorpe to 4-10.

FIELD HOCKEY

Lehighton-Catasauqua

Catasauqua used a strong second half to register a 4-1 non-league victory over Lehighton.

Tied 1-1 at the break, the Rough Riders tallied three times over the final two periods to gain the win.

Abigail Antipas had two goals for Catty, while Riannah Martinez and Kamryn Pushkar each scored once.

For the Indians, now 8-6, Gabby Brown accounted for her team’s only goal.
