Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on Sept. 28 with 26 members in attendance.

New member Karen Reed and returning member Mary Taylor were welcomed. Fall decorations were won by Ruthann Feane and Antoinette Triano.

The group meets every Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rysh-Ryan-Delano Senior citizens met on Sept. 26 with 35 members and two guests in attendance. Bill Morrison has been added to the sick list.

Refreshments were provided by the Neifert and Mundy families. Baskets were donated by Linda Mundy and Nancy Godanis and won by Edith Varno and Tillie Kachmer.

The group meets the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the White Church, Barnesville. Anyone 55 and older is invited.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Consistory will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 in Memorial Hall.

Thrift Sale

Blessings, Zion Lutheran’s thrift ministry, is hosting a one-day fall sale, Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The sale features gently used fall and winter clothing and school uniforms along with general household items, books, toys and holiday decorations.

A limited takeout kitchen menu is available. Major credit cards and cash are accepted. Sorry, no personal checks. Zion Lutheran is located at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets, Tamaqua.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kim will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church, Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. There is no Sunday evening service this week.

Oct. 11 prayer and share at 7 p.m.

Oct. 15 Sunday school Rally Day with puppets, skits, music and worship. 6:30 p.m. Country Gospel concert with the Seger Family of the Shamokin area.

Andreas VFW Post 5069 will meet at 6 p.m. Oct. 11 at the West Penn Annex.

Rummage Sale

St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua will hold a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 7 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Oct. 9.

The church will have clothing, household goods, holiday decorations and other items.

Food Pantry

American Primitive Methodist Church working in partnership with the Salvation Army will distribute food twice a month. The second Wednesday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. and the third Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon and 4 to 5:30 p.m.
