State police at Lehighton - crashes

State police at Lehighton responded to the following crashes:

• No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:06 p.m. Sept. 27, at the intersection of Meixsell Valley Road and Route 115 in Ross Township.

Police said a 2017 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Michelle L. Albanese, 52, of Kunkletown, made a left-hand turn from Route 115 onto Meixsell Valley Road and struck a 2016 Nissan Rogue that was operated by Xavier S. Moses, 19, of Staten Island, New York. Police said the front tire of the Silverado became dislodged while the Rogue sustained heavy front end damages.

• Two vehicles were towed from the scene of a mishap at 5:17 p.m. Sept. 27 at the intersection of Route 209 and Main Road in Franklin Township. No one was hurt.

Police did not identify the drivers of the vehicles. A 2021 Ford Bronco turned left from Main Road onto Route 209 and was struck by a 2012 Nissan Maxima that was southbound at the time.

• Police responded to a “rear-end” crash at 1:58 p.m. Sept. 19 on Route 248 in Parryville. No one was injured in the incident.

They said a 1997 Navistar International driven by Luis A. Chico Beltran, 31, of Allentown, struck the rear of a 1990 Chevrolet operated by Chester D. Lockard, 59, of Bowmanstown. After the initial impact, the Chevrolet traveled off the roadway, crossed the right shoulder of the road and struck a wall.

Police said the Navistar had to be towed from the scene while the Chevrolet was able to be driven from it.

• Richard E. Schantz Jr., 54, of Schnecksville, was transported by personnel from the Lehighton Ambulance Association to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, after a one-vehicle crash at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 27 on West Lizard Creek Road in East Penn Township. Police said they were unaware if his injuries.

They said he was driving a 2019 Dodge Ram 1500 eastbound and negotiating a slight left curve in the roadway when the truck left the road and impacted a tree. It sustained disabling damages and was towed from the scene.

Police said Schantz was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• A 36-year-old Palmerton woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a one-vehicle crash at 10:44 p.m. Sept. 30 on Wintergreen Road in Towamensing Township.

Police said she was driving a 2011 Jeep Compass southbound when she lost control of the vehicle. It traveled off the left side of the road and became disabled on its driver’s side, police said.
