Ben Salem UCC

Ben Salem UCC, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton will hold an 8 a.m. worship service with music group, Daybreak. The praise band that delivers God’s message through song. Coffee hour with snacks, beverages, and Christian fellowship between services.

A 10:15 a.m. traditional service includes the Senior Choir, Handbell Choir and a Children’s Choir. Sunday school classes at 9 a.m. from a Nursery Class to a Middle School/High School Class. Communion service will be the first Sunday of each month.

• Healing service is at 1 p.m. on Oct. 8.

• A chicken and waffle dinner is planned for Oct. 21 from 3-6:30 p.m. Meals includes chicken, waffles, mashed potatoes, two vegetable, beverage and dessert. There is a cost.

• Potato Filling Sale Orders are due Nov. 12. Pickup Nov. 18.

• Christmas candy orders are due Nov. 19. Pickup Dec. 9.

St. John’s

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton will hold a worship service at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday.

Dinkey Memorial Church has a food cupboard available to those in need of supplemental food resources. It is available to members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s, and to residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room, located below the sanctuary.

Save this Date: St. John’s and Dinkey Memorial churches are scheduling a bus trip for April 18, 2024 to the Daniel show at Sight and Sound. More information will follow later in the year.

Christ Evangelical

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd. Dr. West in Lehighton holds weekly worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday school for children and youth every Sunday at 11 a.m., except the first Sunday of the month.

AWANA Children’s Ministry, every Wednesday for children and youth at 6 p.m.

Biblical Parenting classes are held at 6 p.m. each Wednesday.

Men’s Bible Workshop is the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

A Food Bank takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon. It is open to the community

Sister Chix (support group for widows and divorced women) is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Please bring your lunch, we supply dessert and coffee. Let us know you’d like to attend by calling the church office at 570-386-4547.

The church’s Prayer Shawl Ministry will meet monthly, beginning at 9 a.m. on Oct. 6.

Ladies Bible Study is held at 7 p.m. Tuesday evenings or 10 a.m. Friday mornings.

BECC

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, will hold Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m.

Trinity Happenings

First Saturday worship at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 4 p.m.

Sunday worship begins at 9:30 a.m. Communion is served by continuous line with wafer placed in your open hand, and wine or grape juice in a small cup. Gluten free wafers are available to those with allergy issues. The Rev. Nancy L. Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows.

Blessing of the Animals and other cherished is Sunday from noon-1 p.m. Pastor Moore will also bless cherished photos of pets. Please line up with your pet in your vehicle on Iron Street for this Drive-Thru style event.

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, limited to five bags or boxes. Sales receipts support the food pantry. First Friday “Quiet” Holy Communion worship is suspended until further notice.

The Carbon County CROP Walk is Sunday, beginning at 2 p.m. Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry which is affiliated with Shepherd House, serving the people of Carbon County, will benefit from funds raised. The CROP walk address is 600 Riverview Road (West Bowmans), Lehighton. The walk starts at Riverview Park in East Penn Township, and will head south along the D & L Trail. Walkers will then have a choice of returning along the same trail or using connecting paths to complete a loop. Yard and craft sale

Lehighton Community/Rec Center, South 8th St., Lehighton, will hold an indoor yard and craft sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Oct. 13.
