Bog walk

Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is offering guided weekly Tannersville Bog walks at 1 p.m. Wednesdays.

These 2½ hour walks will be guided by an Environmental Educator from the Center who will teach attendees about the Bog, a unique boreal bog for this area, owned by the Nature Conservancy. The Bog is filled with bird songs and insect eating plants.

Participants will meet at the Bog parking lot by 10 a.m.

There is a cost and preregistration is required. To preregister, please call the E.E. Center at 570-629-3061, Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and some Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, visit www.mcconservation.org.

Dumplings ready

All who ordered apple dumplings at Zion Lutheran Church are reminded that pickup time is from 3 to 6 p.m. tomorrow.

TOPS meets

Take of Pounds Sensibly will meet at 5:30 p.m. at Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Kresgeville tomorrow.

Senior Center menu

The Chestnuthill Senior Center, hosted by Zion Lutheran every Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. is offering the following choices for lunch on said days, respectively: Wednesday-chicken unstuffed or turkey salad, and on Friday-egg scramble or tuna salad.

Rummage sale

St. John’s Lutheran Church, 164 Merwinsburg Road, Effort, is holding a rummage sale Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items for sale include clothing, household goods, toys, books and much more.

There will be a bake sale and lunch available to purchase.

Pastie orders due

The Blue Ridge Hook & Ladder Fire Company Auxiliary will be having a pastie sale from 9 a.m. to noon, Oct. 21. The firehouse is located on Old 115 in Saylorsburg.

Orders are requested by Friday by calling Lucy at 570-629-2871.

Flea market set

Effort UMC’s The Women’s Group has scheduled a flea market from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in its pavilion on Saturday. Lunch and bake sale items will be available.
