Local roundup: Results from Oct. 2

Palmerton picked up wins in boys and girls soccer action Monday, while the Northwestern boys soccer and volleyball squads also recorded victories.

Elsewhere, the Panther Valley and Pleasant Valley volleyball teams remained unbeaten with impressive victories.

GIRLS SOCCER

North Schuylkill-Lehighton

Sadie Monk and Charli McHugh each scored two goals in Lehighton’s 4-0 victory over North Schuylkill in Schuylkill League play.

McHugh also had two assists for the Indians (7-5). Mylee Lutsko assisted McHugh’s second and final goal of the game.

Ciara Berhel posted five saves to secure the shutout.

Tamaqua-Marian

Kim Rudy had a four-goal game in an 11-0 Tamaqua victory over Marian in Schuylkill League play.

Lauren Ligenza also added three goals for the Blue Raiders (9-4). Sarah Hope scored two goals, joining Rudy and Ligenza with multi-goal games.

Andrea Betz put up the first goal of the game for Tamaqua.

Maddie Kattner made 21 saves for Marian (2-11) in the loss.

Pen Argyl-Palmerton

Nataly Walters had a hat trick and an assist as Palmerton posted a 7-3 win over Pen Argyl in Colonial League play.

Hannah Barry scored twice for the Blue Bombers (11-5), and Ella Baumgardt and Hadlee Lake also scored. Barry also had two assists.

Ellianna Wallbillich scored twice and had an assist for the Green Knights (4-8).

Weatherly-Williams Valley

Williams Valley rolled to a 13-0 Schuylkill League win over visiting Weatherly.

Jasmine Hechler, Tattiana Swartzlander and Miley Mahoney provided the spark for the Vikings, as the trio all posted hat tricks.

Juliette Bartel finished with 18 saves for the Wreckers, who fell to 2-10 overall and 0-9 in the league.

BOYS SOCCER

Pen Argyl-Palmerton

Palmerton knocked off Pen Argyl for a 2-1 win in Colonial League action.

AJ Borger and Trevor Anthony posted the goals for the Bombers (5-10 overall; 3-8 CL), while Kellen Trotter and Peyton Waibel each had assists. Dillon Lombardi recorded seven saves in the win.

Pen Argyl slipped to 2-10 and 1-10 on the season.

Pine Grove-Northwestern

Northwestern blanked Pine Grove for a 3-0 victory in a battle of two league powers.

Isaac Frey led the way for the unbeaten Tigers (16-0 overall) with two goals, while Jack Mauro added a score and an assist. Logan Mesics had two assists, while Brandon Krapf posted two saves to record another shutout for the Colonial League leaders.

Pine Grove, which has enjoyed a strong season in the Schuylkill League, fell to 10-4.

Northern Lehigh-Saucon Vy.

Logan Barfield’s two goals helped Northern Lehigh secure a 2-0 Colonial League victory over Saucon Valley.

James Stock grabbed 14 saves for the Bulldogs, who improved to 4-9-1 overall and 2-7-1 in the league.

Saucon Valley fell to 1-9.

Tamaqua-Nativity

Nativity picked up a 4-1 win over Tamaqua.

Michael Kadziela led Nativity (9-2) with two goals and an assist.

Wyatt Steigerwalt scored the lone goal for the Blue Raiders (4-9), while Kevin Bazan made three saves.

VOLLEYBALL

Northwestern-NDGP

Northwestern ran its win streak to five matches with a 25-17, 25-21, 15-25, 25-22 win over Notre Dame Green Pond in Colonial League action.

Bailey Murray sparked the Tigers (9-6 overall; 7-2 CL) with 16 kills, nine digs and an ace, while Shannon Green dished out 45 assists, 17 digs and two aces.

Kylie Nagle finished with 32 digs and three assists.

Pleasant Valley-PM East

Pleasant Valley stayed unbeaten with a 25-13, 25-11, 25-13 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Pocono Mountain East.

Rylee Ruggiero sparked the front line for the Bears with 10 kills, five blocks and two digs, while Lexi Womack (four kills, four digs), Kara Miller (four kills) and Hannah Akob (eight digs, three kills, three blocks, two assists) contributed to the winning effort.

Brianna Bruckman (20 assists, five digs) and Lexi Womack (four kills, four digs) also helped Pleasant Valley move to 14-0 overall and 13-0 in the EPC.

Blue Mtn.-Panther Valley

Panther Valley’s undefeated season continued with a 25-21, 25-27, 25-18, 23-25, 15-8 victory over Blue Mountain.

Riley McArdle had 25 kills and 29 digs in the win for the Panthers (13-0).

Natalie Vermillion added 21 digs and six kills, while Morgan Orsulak put up six aces, five kills, three blocks, 18 assists and 13 digs. Caroline Breslin also had 21 digs.

Blue Mountain won the JV match 2-1.

MMI Prep-Weatherly

Weatherly topped MMI Prep 25-11, 20-25, 25-20, 25-17.

Rachel Rosenlund paced the Wreckers (2-14 overall) with 11 service points, seven aces and three kills, while Abby Weston followed with 10 service points, five aces and five digs.

Abby Teodorescu (four service points, four aces) and Taylor Davidovich (six service points, four digs) also played key roles in the win.

Palmerton-Saucon Valley

Saucon Valley posted a 25-14, 25-9, 25-6 Colonial League victory over Palmerton.

Claire Thomas paced the Blue Bombers (3-15 overall; 0-10 CL) with five digs and three kills, while Sadie Gair added six assists.

FIELD HOCKEY

Nazareth-Lehighton

Nazareth posted an 11-2 win over Lehighton in non-league action.

Gabby Brown scored both of Lehighton’s goals, while Grayson Frey finished with 13 saves.

The Indians dropped to 8-4.

Pleasant Valley-Bangor

Bangor blanked Pleasant Valley 5-0 in a non-conference contest.

Ana Jones led the Slaters (8-4-1) with two goals.

Maria Altemose made 10 saves for the Bears (1-11-2).
