Police: Albrightsville man had large amounts of marijuana

An Albrightsville man has been charged after large amounts of marijuana were found in his vehicle following a traffic stop in Carbon County, police said.

State police at Lehighton have filed charges in the case against Aidan Frank, 20:

At 4 a.m. March 12, troopers were conducting routing patrols on Route 248 eastbound in the area of Bowmanstown when a black Toyota Rav4, driven by Frank, crossed the center line several times.

Police stopped Frank after about a half mile and e said he had slurred speech and bloodshot glassy eyes.

While speaking with Frank, police observed a large marijuana cigarette in the center cup holder; one gallon Captain Morgan container filled halfway with a clear liquid located on the front passenger floor; a vape pen on the passenger seat; and a gold handle of a large knife-dagger and another unknown handle located between the driver’s seat and center console.

Frank was asked how much marijuana was inside the vehicle, and he said “none.” Police then pointed out the marijuana blunt in the center console, and Frank said, “oh, I forgot about that.”

Frank was placed under arrest, and police searched Frank on scene with negative results.

On March 15, troopers went to Strohl’s Towing Company and a search warrant was executed on the Rav4. Police found drugs and paraphernalia.

Frank faces charges on three counts of driving under influence of alcohol/controlled substance, and one count each of manufacture, delivery, or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver; marijuana; use/possession of drug paraphernalia; intentional possession controlled substance by person not registered; driving under the influence of alcohol/controlled substance; DUI/unsafe driving; purchase, etc. alcoholic beverage by a minor; disregard traffic lane; and careless driving.

Frank is free in lieu of $20,000 unsecured bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Oct. 11 before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton.
