Pleasant Valley School Board

The Pleasant Valley School Board approved several staff changes at its most recent meeting and was informed of a retirement.

High school science teacher Steven Distasio has notified the district of his intent to retire effective Dec. 31.

The other changes at the school board meeting on Sept. 21 include:

• Building volunteers - Elizabeth Cremers, Allison Conklin, Francesca Couchman, Leah DeMaio, Cory Nordyke, Heatherann Shenton and Antoinette Zarelli;

• Change to current assignment - Kathleen Meckes, monitor, from PVIS to PVMS;

• Hiring of professional staff - long-term substitute - Erica Smith, family consumer science teacher, PVHS, Step 1, $47,357;

• Hiring of support staff - Ashley Regina, monitor, PVES, $11.53 per hour;

• Intramural advisers - James Weiss, wrestling, PVHS and PVMS; Jeremy Goff, weightlifting at PVHS;

• Resignations - Augie Kresge, fall event manager; Jillian Janotti, building secretary, PVMS; Lisa Wojton, cross country junior high assistant; and Elizabeth Morgan monitor, PVES;

• Supplemental contracts: athletic - Matt Gould, boys basketball, freshman assistant; and Douglas Wisser, boys basketball, junior varsity assistant;

• Supplemental contracts: athletic non-coaching - Robert Kayes, fall and spring sub; and Jenna Wernett, wrestling, varsity and junior varsity score book;

• Supplemental contracts: nonathletic - PVMS: Robin Locker, drama set design, musical set design, and Art Club, $600 each; Carol Priebe, Ecology Club, $1,300; Alexandria Gibb and James Shoopack, Yearbook, $1,155 each (split stipend); PVHS: Susanne Rasely-Phillips, Graphic Novel Society; Elaine Cucci and Suzanne Hunsicker, SADD advisers and Student Government; Erica Smith, Key Club, $1,137.50; Jacqueline Brinker and Susanne Rasely Philipps, National Honor Society, $1,000 each (split stipend); Jamie Hyde and Danielle Brandes, Diversity Club, $350 each (split stipend); Anthony Chupa, Debate Club, $2,000; James DeVivo, Chess Club, $2,000, and;

• Student activities - Lauren Staub, Aevidium.
