Church having car show fundraiser Sat.

St. John the Baptist Orthodox Church of Nesquehoning, in conjunction with Jukebox Cruisers Car Club of Carbon County, is having a car show and family day on Saturday.

Matt Boyer of Boyer’s Lawn, Landscaping and Mower Repair of New Ringgold has donated the use of his property at 1375 Oak Grove Drive, Lehighton, for the event. The property is across from Tractor Supply on Route 443.

The show begins at 9 a.m. with winning vehicles being announced around 3 p.m. There will be food, a bake sale, music, raffles, games for everyone and crafts for the children.

Rain date for the event is Oct. 7.

Mary Berger, fundraising chairperson for the church, said that this is the first time the church has held a car show as a fundraiser.

“You don’t need to be a show-car owner to come out and enjoy the day,” she said. “Spectator admission is free.”

She added that while this is a fundraiser, the church aims to make the day a fun time for everyone.

“We are proud to be doing this in conjunction with Jukebox Cruisers Car Club,” Berger said. “They have a long history of philanthropy and helping other local nonprofits by donating the money they receive throughout the year. This is definitely a win-win for everyone.”
