State Police at Lehighton have released details on a crash last month in Ross Township.

A New Jersey man suffered serious injuries in the motorcycle-truck crash at 3:45 p.m. Aug. 27 on Route 115 in Ross Township.

Police said Herbert P. Benitez-Monzon, 55, of Morristown, was flown by helicopter to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem, for “suspected broken neck/jaw” injuries.

He was the operator of a 2022 Suzuki GSX. A passenger, Martha C. Correacastrillon, 38, of Cedar Knolls, New Jersey, had minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the West End Ambulance Service to the Lehigh Valley Hospital-Pocono, East Stroudsburg, police said.

The crash happened at the intersection of Route 115 and Kunkletown Road. Polce said a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 operated by Barbara M. Vreeland, 79, of Slatington, traveling north on Route 115, made a left-hand turn onto the Kunkletown Road and struck the cycle traveling southbound.

Police said Vreeland, who was uninjured, was cited for the crash.

The motorcycle was towed from the scene while the truck was able to be driven from the scene, police said.
