Franklin Township Supervisors
Franklin Township supervisors took the following action last Tuesday:
• Agreed to appoint Log Cabin Fence Company, Inc to install salt shed at the price not to exceed $75,000 under source well. This was an approved item from this year’s ARPA budget.
• Hired Randolph Brunson as a full-time road crew employee at the rate of $17 an hour, with a start date of Aug. 28.
• Hired Donald McGowan as a part-time seasonal grass mower employee at the rate of $16 an hour, with a start date of Aug. 21.
• Hired Brian Sebring as a part-time garbage crew employee at the rate of $17 an hour, with a start date of Sept. 20.
• Hired Aiden Koch as a part-time garbage crew employee at the rate of $16 an hour, with a start date of Oct. 2.
• Approved the police pension minimum municipal obligation for 2024 in the amount of $63,426.
• Approved the nonuniformed pension plan minimum municipal obligation for 2024 in the amount of $69,991.
• Approved the final plan for minor subdivision of Cora Ann Carpenter pending Department of Environmental Protection results and the payment of $500 for the recreation fees.
• Adopted an ordinance that states that the township’s supervisors from time to time may establish by resolution the rate, including discounts and penalties. The resolution will be to set an additional charge for each family or housekeeping unit will be an additional $5 per container in excess of four.
• Announced there will be a change in garbage collection for the Columbus Day Holiday, as Oct. 9 pickup is changed to Oct. 10.
• Announced an electronic recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 21 for township residents only.
• Approved the township’s volunteer fire company to participate in Lehighton’s Halloween Parade on Oct. 21, with a rain date of Oct. 22.
• Scheduled the township’s trick-or-treat night from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 31.
• Announced that the township office is selling 6” cold hoagies from Cindy’s Deli to help raised money for the revitalization of Phifer’s Ice Dam Playground. Tickets can only be purchased from the township administration office during business hours. The ticket expires March 1.
