Schuylkill County inmate sentenced for drug possession

Larry Massenburg, 35, an inmate at the Federal Correctional Institution in Schuylkill (FCI Schuylkill), Minersville, was sentenced in federal court to 18 months in prison, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Massenburg was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge Robert D. Mariani for possessing contraband in prison.

According to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam, Massenburg was an inmate at FCI Schuylkill, serving a sentence of imprisonment for a prior federal conviction for cocaine trafficking. On March 2, 2022, correctional officers at FCI Schuylkill found Massenburg in possession of methamphetamine.

Judge Mariani ordered the 18-month sentence to run consecutive to Massenburg’s existing term of imprisonment.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Prisons’ Special Investigative Services. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Phillip J. Caraballo.
