The Aquashicola Fire Co. has teamed up with a local business to help raise funds to help defray the costs of its new tanker.

A Dine and Donate will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 26 at Papa Al’s Italian Restaurant and Pizzeria in Palmerton.

“I know we have a lot of members who eat their often, through those relationships, Papa Al offered to host the Dine and Donate,” said Chris Jahelka, treasurer of the fire company. “The community is invited to come out and either dine inside or order take out, and for every meal that is purchased, they’ll (Papa Al’s) donate a portion of those proceeds back to the fire company.”

Jahelka said there’s also a basket raffle being held that day inside Papa Al’s from noon to 8 p.m.

“I think it’s good community relations on behalf of Papa Al’s, and money raised will help offset the fire company’s fees and help our budget,” he said.

Jahelka said that the fire department recently purchased a new tanker (water truck), which came with some extra fees and things it needs to add on to help outfit the truck properly.

He said the fire department is always looking for volunteers, and that anyone interested may stop at the fire company on Monday nights and meet with them.
