BECC

Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, 222 North St., Lehighton, will hold Morning Worship at 10:45 a.m. Sunday. Sunday school will be held at 9:30 a.m. Assessment report is held at 4 p.m.

St. John’s

St. John’s Lutheran Church of Mahoning, 826 Mahoning Dr. W., Lehighton will hold a worship service at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday with Holy Communion.

Book Club will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Sept. 26. The group will discuss “Little Girl Lost” by Wendy Coisi Straub.

Dinkey Memorial Church has a food cupboard available to those in need of supplemental food resources. It is available to members of Dinkey Memorial and St. John’s, and to residents of East Penn Township. The distribution is the third Thursday of every month from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in Dinkey’s Social Room, located below the sanctuary. If you or anyone you know would benefit from receiving food from the Community Cupboard, please speak with Pastor Tony.

The church will hold its Fall Bazaar from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 29, and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 30. There will be a free kids pumpkin hunt at 11 a.m. on Saturday. A portion of the profits from the event will go toward food for the poor.

Save this Date: St. John’s and Dinkey Memorial churches are scheduling a bus trip for April 18, 2024 to the Daniel show at Sight and Sound. More information will follow later in the year.

Ben Salem UCC

Ben Salem UCC, 1965 Church Hill Road, Lehighton will hold its Fall Festival and Rummage Sale from 5 to 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 29 and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 30. Come and enjoy the food, homemade crafts, bake sale and basket raffle.

The festival is held at 1965 Church Hill Road and the Rummage Sale is located at 1749 Church Hill Road.

Trinity Happenings

Sunday worship with dedication of new candlelighters at Trinity Lutheran Church, 175 S. Third St., Lehighton, begins at 9:30 a.m. Included in this time is observance of “Harvest Home.” The Rev. Nancy Moore presides. Coffeehouse fellowship follows in Luther Hall.

“Harvest Home” honors farmers following the season’s growths and the abundance of their labors. Donations of nonperishable food items, such as canned fruits and vegetables, soup, tuna may be brought to the worship service. All food items will remain at Trinity for distribution through the pantry. Monetary donations are being accepted to benefit the Trinity Pantry. An envelope is available in the September packet of contribution envelopes. If there is no designated envelope, please label a regular envelope with the contribution “Harvest Home.”

Sunday Church School classes for students age 3 through grade 6 and confirmation preparatory instruction classes for students grades 7 and 8 begin at 10:45 a.m.

The Food Pantry is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays (and third Tuesday from 5:30 to 7 p.m.) with an outdoor drive-up setting. Residents who reside in the Lehighton Area School District are eligible to receive supplemental food. Participants must remain in their vehicle at time of pick up. Pantry volunteers will assist pedestrians/those not in vehicles.

The Trinity Thrift Store hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesdays; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Donation drop-offs are accepted during store hours on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, limited to five bags or boxes. Sales receipts support the food pantry. For those desiring to schedule a baptism or seek membership at Trinity, please phone the church office. Baptism class instructions with Pastor Moore is on the third Sunday at 1 p.m. New member class instruction with Pastor Moore meets Sunday at 1 p.m.

First Friday “Quiet” Holy Communion worship will no longer occur.

Christ Evangelical

Christ Evangelical Free Church, 2420 Blakeslee Blvd., Dr., West in Lehighton holds weekly worship service beginning at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Sunday School for children and youth every Sunday at 11 a.m., except the first Sunday of the month.

AWANA - Kids Bible Clubs runs through April. It is held every Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. There are songs, games, Bible memory and lesson. AWANA is open to children ages 3 to 12th grade.

A Prayer Shawl Ministry for those who love to knit and crochet is held the second Saturday of the month from 9 to 11 a.m.

Sister Chix (support group for widows and divorced women) is held the last Sunday of each month at noon. Please bring your lunch, we supply dessert and coffee.

Men’s Bible Workshop is the first and third Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m.

A Food Bank takes place the third Saturday of the month from 9 a.m. to noon. Please bring a driver’s license or some other form of ID.

A Parenting Class will begin on Oct. 4. It will take place during AWANA.

Ladies Bible Study is held at 7 p.m. on Oct. 3 or 10 a.m. on Oct. 6.
