Three injured in W. Penn crash

Three people were injured Wednesday afternoon in a crash in West Penn Township.

The incident occurred around 3 p.m. as the car was traveling north on Route 309 at the South Tamaqua intersection. The driver apparently lost control drifting to the right entering a private lot, hitting a traffic light pole head on.

The injured were treated at the scene by members of the Penn Mahoning ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center. West Penn and Tamaqua fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.

West Penn police are investigating the incident.
