September 19, 1953 - Two blocked punts in the second quarter are key for Coaldale as the Tigers blank Summit Hill by a 27-0 score. Locked in a scoreless tie, Joe Sloboda registers the first blocked punt to give the winners the ball on the 1-yard line. Jim Price crashes over on the next play to put Coaldale ahead. George Sopko extends the advantage with a 20-yard touchdown run before another blocked punt by Bob Shubeck sets the Tigers up on the Hillers’ 9-yard line. Price again benefits, racing to the end zone for his second score. Coaldale, coached by Andy Kalen, also receives a fourth-quarter tally from Don Craig.
