Lehighton has granted consent for a borough business to expand.
On a 5-0 vote, borough council last week granted conditional approval to Blue Ridge Pressure Casting’s building addition at 981 Bridge St.
Borough secretary Brenda Kreitz said the plan previously received approval from the borough’s planning commission.
Kreitz said Blue Ridge is looking to take on more clients and hire more employees.
Currently, it’s a two-shift operation with overtime on the weekends, she said.
Kreitz said the project includes the addition of two more casting bays and one storage bay, and will have a similar footprint of the original casting building.
There will be 50 employees total, with a maximum of 30 employees per shift, she said.
A variance will be sought for the required parking, Kreitz said.
Council members Darryl Arner and Lisa Perry were absent.
