Lehigh Canal Recreation Commission needs new members.

Lehighton Borough Councilman Ryan Saunders discussed the matter at last week’s borough council meeting.

Saunders said there haven’t been meetings of late because the commission hasn’t had enough members for a quorum.

Membership consists of Lehighton, Weissport, and Parryville, along with Franklin, East Penn and Mahoning townships.

Of those, Saunders said only Lehighton and Weissport have had people attend.

The next commission meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 28 at Weissport Borough Hall.

“We’re definitely in need of volunteers to clean up the trailhead,” Saunders said.
