Arthur Marvin of Palmerton, who was appointed to the Carbon County Housing Authority six months ago, was named chairman during a meeting of the authority held yesterday morning in the Carbon County Courthouse Annex, Jim Thorpe.

Marvin succeeds Fred W. Manning of Lehighton, who resigned as chairman but said he will continue to serve on the authority as an active member. He resigned the chairmanship because of his busy professional schedule.

Manning had been chairman of the board for the past nine months following the death of Carl Johnson.

Marvin is a retired professional consultant for metallurgical and energy management.
