Today is Sept. 9.

For some of us this is just an ordinary Saturday.

For any of us that need an excuse to celebrate here are 17 not-so familiar national holidays found online at National Today.

International Sudoku Day. In this game you use 1-9 numbers, played on a 9x9 grid, columns are made of 9-inch squares. No surprise this holiday is on the 9th of the month.

California Admission Day. Today in 1850 California became our 31st state.

Care Bears Share Your Care Day. This day is set aside to motivate giving and volunteerism in your community.

Carl Garner Federal Lands cleanup day. This little-known holiday is set on the first Saturday following Labor Day. It encourages citizens to get out and clean up our federal lands.

Drive your Studebaker Day. Did you know a Studebaker was regarded as the most exquisite car of the 20th century? If you are lucky enough to have one, today is your day to show it off.

Emergency Services Day. This is observed across the United Kingdom and celebrates the heroes that provide the residents with emergency services.

Farmers Consumer Awareness Day. Today is an opportunity for the farmers to show off the fruits of their labor and demonstrate how their farms work. It is a great way to learn where your groceries come from and to talk to the ones who grow them.

Free Dentistry Day. This day is usually set aside by certain dentists to give back to the community by giving free dental cleaning, fillings, root canals, extraction, and oral cancer screening.

German Language Day. Did you know German is the language of poets? This day was created 17 years ago to encourage more people to the speak German.

International Box of Wine Day. This one is self-explanatory - forget the bottle today buy a box instead.

International Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Awareness Day. Alcohol is now recognized as the leading preventable cause of birth defects and disorders in the United States. Today is a reminder that there is no “safe” level of drinking while pregnant.

National When Pigs Can Fly Day. My personal favorite. Have faith in miracles. Sometimes the seemly impossible things can happen.

National Wiener schnitzel Day. Wiener schnitzel is a veal cutlet coated in bread and pan fried. There are many different variations of this dish, but it is considered an Austria delicacy.

Steak Au Poivre Day. Today could be the perfect day to indulge in some French cuisine. This is a steak dish served with a creamy sauce. The cream sauce consists of heavy cream, butter, garlic Dejon mustard and plenty of spices. This is considered one of the most succulent meals ever invented so they have devoted a day especially for this dish.

National Teddy Bear Day. This is a day set side for all the Teddy Bear lovers to bring out their collection and to thank them for their companionship all the days and nights they comforted them.

Wonderful Weirdos Day. Nothing is quite as dull as being normal or average so today celebrate your weird ways along with all the other happy weirdos. Don’t be afraid to celebrate your quirkiness today.
