AL Riders

The American Legion Riders will hold its monthly meeting a 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Movie announced

Middlecreek Christian Church is continuing its free monthly movie nights throughout the year. The next showing, at 5 p.m., Sunday, will be

God’s Not Dead 2. Pizza, beverages, and snacks will be provided.

Special ceremony

A Patriot Day ceremony will be held at the Gilbert American Legion at 11 a.m. Monday. It is open to the community.

Blood drive set

Miller-Keystone will be holding a blood drive at the Western Pocono Community Library Brodheadsville, on Monday.

Being accepted are whole blood, double red cells and platelets.

Preschool start

The 2023-2024 Preschool year will begin classes on Monday, at Effort UMC. Offered is a 3-year-old or Pre-K program.

Bingo night

An open to the public Bingo Night will be held at the American Legion Post 927 Monday, starting at 6:30 p.m. with card sales and then calling the games beginning at 7 p.m.

Effort Women meet

Effort Women’s Group will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in Wesley Hall at Effort UMC.

Volunteers needed

The Pocono Mountains Visitors Bureau is accepting group registrations for its litter pickup day, Sept. 23, but it must be done by 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Rail trail extension

The Greenways Feasibility Study, which is looking at the possibility of extending a rail trail from Palmerton ts Kunkletown, will be holding a public meeting at 6 p.m., Sept. 12, at the Lower Towamensing Recreation Center, 1770 Fireline Rd. Palmerton.

The public is urged to attend. Representatives of Barry Isett Associates, the engineering firm conducting the study, will be present.

A survey will be available at the township offices or upon request through email in advance of the meeting.

Touch of Home

The next scheduled meeting of Operation Touch of Home is set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the American Legion Post 927 in Gilbert.

Free mulch

Ross Township residents are reminded that free mulch is available from 6:30 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

One’s own 5-pound bucket or 2 buckets must be brought.

Polk meetings

The Polk Township Planning Commission is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. next Wednesday.

The next Supervisors general meeting is at 8 a.m. Sept. 14.

Ham dinner

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is having a ham takeout dinner Oct. 14.

Dinner will include ham, filling with gravy, carrots, applesauce, roll and choice of molasses or pineapple upside-down cake.

Orders must be placed by calling 570-688-5381 no later than Oct. 1.

Pick up dinners at the church on Oct. 14 between 4 and 5:30 p.m.
