PVE Open House

Pleasant Valley Elementary School will host its open house from 5 to 7 p.m. today.

Children’s groups

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church has announced that the Royal Rangers and Girls Ministries will resume today from 7 to 8:15 p.m.

Pizza orders due

McMichaels UMC is hosting a homemade pizza sale through Sept. 7.

Orders must be placed by tomorrow by calling Martha Stout at 570-992-6742.

Pickup is at the church before 11 a.m., Sept. 16.

The pizzas are all 12-inch, cheese only.

GS Troop 52334

The Girl Scouts of Troop 52334 are meeting from 6 to 7 p.m. tomorrow at St. Matthew’s UCC, Kunkletown, and hosting a Back to School and Scouts ice cream social with each current member asked to bring a friend.

Her office hours are 10 a.m. to noon Sundays and Thursdays.

She is one of the assistant troop leaders.

The troop will meet at the church first and third Thursday each month.

Officer induction

American Legion Post 927 will induct its officers at 6 p.m. tomorrow.

The members meeting will follow at 6:30 p.m.

PV Board meets

The Pleasant Valley Board of Education is slated to meet at 7 p.m. tomorrow.

Primetimers meet

On Friday, at noon, the Primetimers of Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church will meet for a time of fellowship and a hymn sing.

Attending folks are reminded to bring a dish to share.

Friday Fun Night

Staci Gower, Coordinator of Christian Formation at St. Matthew’s UCC in Kunkletown, has scheduled the first Friday Fun Night, at her church for the church youth and their special people, whether family or friends.

Starting in September, leaders are calling it Faith and Family Night.

They are incorporating a Bible story, activity and family into the evenings.

Sept. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., is “Donut Forget to Bring a Friend” and there’ll be doughnuts and milk, a lesson about sharing and friendship, and a doughnut craft.

All are invited.

Breakfast served

McMichaels UMC is hosting a donation-only breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Takeout meals will also be available.

Pantry open

Effort UMC’s food pantry will be open Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Donations being asked for this month include any nonperishable items.

Saturday event

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church is hosting a Couples Luncheon Cruise in Philadelphia on Sept. 9.

Mum pickup

Those who ordered mums from the Eldred Township Veteran Memorial group are reminded that the pickup of paid orders is at 11 a.m. Saturday, at the Eldred Township Community Center.

Pig roast held

The Sons of the American Legion will hold its annual pig roast at 2 p.m. Saturday.

Three events

Effort UMC is beginning with both its Fellowship Breakfast this Sunday at 9:30 p.m. and the church choir being part of the worship service this Sunday at the 11 a.m. service. The Youth Group will meet from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.

The church holds two Sunday worship services, at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

Youth Sunday school is at 11 a.m.

Outdoor service

McMichaels UMC will hold an outdoor service Sunday, Grandparents Day.

After the worship service, hot dogs, hamburgers, covered dishes, and beverages will be served. Entertainment will be by Dennis Maida and his band. All are welcome.

Rally Day

Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, will celebrate Rally Day and God’s Work, Our Hands Day on Sunday.

A new Sunday school year kicks off at 9:15 a.m.

Following the 10:30 worship service there will be a cookout. The congregation’s service projects for God’s Work, Our Hands include collecting feminine and baby items for PVEN, personal care items and visitation to the church’s homebound members.
