Residents of the Palmerton Area School District can swim for free at the Palmerton Memorial Pool on Saturday.
Community Appreciation Day will be held from noon to 7 p.m., according to Don Herrmann, president of the pool’s board of directors.
As part of the event, there will be food and drink specials, said Herrmann, who added guests must show their driver’s license, while students must show their student ID.
“It’s the last weekend of the year (for the pool),” Herrmann said. “We just want to give back to the community, have people stay here for Labor Day Weekend to relax with family and stay local.”
But, that isn’t all, Herrmann said.
“It’s supposed to be beautiful weekend,” he said. “It’s an opportunity for people who haven’t got there this year, or haven’t been there for a while, to spend some time and relax.”
Herrmann said the pool is always looking for people to volunteer on the Palmerton Memorial Park Association Board.
He said the organization meets at 7 p.m. the second Wednesday of each month at Palmerton Borough Hall.
