Woman charged after neighbor dispute

A Lehighton woman has been charged with DUI following a neighbor dispute.

Lehighton Police were dispatched at 12:10 p.m. Aug. 25, to the 100 block of S. Second Street for a neighbor dispute.

Police said there had been numerous recent disputes to this location for similar circumstances.

Police attempted to handle the dispute amicably, and all involved were advised citations would be filed.

Everyone involved was told to avoid future contact with each other.

After police left, Billie Jo Shiner, 49, responded to the police station to file further complaints.

When returning home, she drove past the residence involved in the continuous disputes. In driving past, she gave an obscene gestures to the residents who were on their front porch, some of which were young people.

Police were dispatched back to the area, where Shiner was outside her home.

Having determined she drank alcohol, Shiner was instructed to return inside her home, but refused to comply.

She was taken into custody and charged with DUI, persistent disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness, charges which were approved by the Carbon County District Attorney’s Office.

Shiner was arraigned before the Magistrate Casimir T. Kosciolek of Lansford, who set bail at $2,000. She was sent to the Carbon County Correctional Facility and released on bail Monday. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 3 p.m. Sept. 6 in front of Magisterial District Judge Eric M. Schrantz.
