Palmerton is seeking members to serve on its Quality of Life Board of Appeals after borough council unanimously approved the measure on Thursday.
Borough Manager Autumn Canfield said it’s part of the International Property Maintenance Code.
Canfield said the borough’s code enforcement officer will still enforce the code and issue citations.
Canfield said that the board of appeals would only be an avenue for people who want to contest the ticket, much like a zoning hearing board for those who want to contest zoning violations.
She said the next step would be to obtain letters of interest from people who would like to sit on the board.
Canfield said a minimum of three people are needed, and they cannot be borough employees.
Council said anyone interested in applying should send their letter of interest to the borough office.
