• Schuylkill County’s Economic Development Office will have a new vehicle from a Tamaqua dealership.
Commissioners on Wednesday OK’d a 60-month lease/purchase agreement with Mauch Chunk Trust Company for a $43,880 2023 Ford Edge from Rottet Motors.
• In personnel matters, acknowledged the hirings of Shelby Walkusky, Schuylkill Haven, as a clerk typist for the Children and Youth Services Agency at $15.71 an hour; Melissa Bell, Pottsville, as a PFA coordinator in the Prothonotary’s office at $15 an hour; and Ruby Paris, Schuylkill Haven, as a deputy coroner/investigator, paid on a fee schedule.
They also acknowledged the resignations of Sue Miggins, Minersville, from her job as a clerk in the prothonotary’s office; Marcy Kleckner, West Brunswick Township, from her job as a Real Estate Market Analyst in the Tax Assessment Bureau; James McIntyre, Jonestown, from his job as a corrections officer; and Glenn T. Roth Jr., Pottsville, from his job as First Assistant County Solicitor.
Commissioners Chairman Barron L. Hetherington wished Roth farewell.
After 11 years with the county, Roth has taken a job with Gov. Josh Shapiro’s Office of General Counsel, PennDOT. His last day is Sept. 1.
Hetherington especially appreciated Roth’s reliable availability.
“It didn’t matter if it was 6 a.m. or on a weekend, he would always either answer right away or call back. One time I was talking to him when he was at Pitt stadium, watching his beloved Pitt Panthers play football,” he said. “He was always there, always available.”
“I appreciate Glenn’s help and his service to the county. We’re going to miss him,” Hetherington said.
