State police at Fern Ridge - incidents

State police at Fern Ridge report the following incidents:

• A 37-year-old Wilkes-Barre man was cited for harassment after police were called to an incident at 10:04 p.m. Aug. 15 at a property on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township. A 38-year-old woman from Brodheadsville told police that the man, from whom she had been separated for 1½ years, parked his car along Route 115 in front of her home and yelled her name and then his name. The woman told the man to leave the residence, police said.

• A 43-year-old man from Edison, New Jersey, was struck in the ear with a long-handled gardening tool by his girlfriend, identified as “Candi,” while they attended a party in Jackson Township. Police said they were called at 8:40 p.m. Aug. 13 to a property on Twin Pine Road in the township to take the report.

• Sawyer T. Holdorff, 21, of Effort, escaped injuries in a one-vehicle crash at 6:47 p.m. Aug. 12 at the intersection of Route 115 and Weir Lake Road in Chestnuthill Township. Police said he was driving a Ford Taurus when he swerved to avoid hitting a car that had pulled out in front of him. The Taurus hit an embankment and PPL utility pole and was towed from the scene.

• A 69-year-old Blakeslee woman had $799 taken from her wallet that was in her 1997 Toyota and police charged Veelique Farrior-Harris, 20, with theft. Police said they were called at 7:04 a.m. Aug. 12 to the Conoco gas station on Route 115 in Tobyhanna Township, where the woman told them Farrior-Harris had crashed his car and walked over to Jimmy’s Towing for assistance. At some point during the encounter, police said, Farrior-Harris went to the woman’s unlocked car and stole the money, police said. He was arrested and taken to the Monroe County Correctional Facility, Snydersville. Police said several hours later, the vehicle that Farrior-Harris was in was reported stolen.

• A 42-year-old Effort woman was threatened with her life by a 37-year-old Philadelphia man who is facing charges of harassment and terroristic threats. Police said they were called at 12:14 a.m. Aug. 10 to a property on Brian Lane in Chestnuthill Township where the woman said the man sent multiple threats to kill her and her children via text messages and phone conversations.

• A 31-year-old Kunkletown man is facing charges of driving under the influence after a traffic stop at 12:21 a.m. July 4 at the intersection of Route 115 and the Effort-Neola Road in Chestnuthill Township. Police said they stopped him in a 2018 Subaru for traffic violations. The charges are pending the results of blood tests administered to the man.

• A Penn Forest Township home was burglarized between 2 p.m. and 11:45 p.m. Aug. 7. It happened along Guest Circle, Towamensing Trails. A 58-year-old woman and a 57-year-old man lived at the residence. Police said the house was entered without force and several rooms were ransacked. Fifty dollars was taken.

• A 52-year-old Pen Argyl woman said her car was broken into when she parked it at the State Game Lanes parking area on Camelback Road, Jackson Township, and went hiking. Police said between 10:30-45 a.m. Aug. 9, she parked her 2019 Mazda at the site. While she was hiking, she received alerts from her credit card providers that the cards were being used in Chile. Police said when she returned to the vehicle, she discovered her purse was pulled from under the passenger’s seat and four credit cards, a debit card and $30 were stolen from the wallet. One of the cards was used to make a $15 purchase while all of the other transactions were denied, police said.
