The West Penn Lions Club presented its Annual Hero Award donations Wednesday at the West Penn Township Park. A total of $5,000 was given to eight local nonprofit organizations.
“Each of you is a hero in this community,” West Penn Lions Club President Karissa Brothers said. “What would happen if you weren’t part of our community? Every organization that is here tonight, I thank you for your representation; because, without you, this community would not be what it is.”
Brothers presented checks to: Boy Scout Troop 755 of Clamtown, $350; Penn Mahoning Ambulance, $1,000; Tamaqua Adult Day Care Center, $300; Tamaqua Public Library, $500; Tamaqua Salvation Army Service Center, $500; West Penn Community 4-H Club, $350; West Penn Township Community Park, $1,000; and West Penn Fire Company #1, $1,000.
