Turnpike crashes

State police at the Pocono barracks reported on crashes on the Northeast Extension of the turnpike.

• Two drivers were injured in a three-vehicle incident at 12:52 a.m. Aug. 11 on the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

David J. Snyder, 54, of Old Forge, and Corey R. Arnold, 32, of Mountain Top, were injured. They were transported by personnel from the Lake Harmony Rescue Squad and Ambulance Corps to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township. Police said the severity of their injuries is unknown.

The third driver, William Mahmde Sr., 62, of Albrightsville, was uninjured.

Police said the crash happened in an active work zone on Interstate 476, south of the Hickory Run State Park, Kidder Township. They said Snyder was driving a 2023 Kenworth rig that failed to slow down an struck the rear of a construction dump truck driven by Arnold, causing the dump truck to go into a ditch on the right side of the road and overturn.

Police said Mahmde was driving a 2019 Ford Ranger that came upon the crash, struck numerous rocks that were in the roadway, and then struck the Kenworth rig and a concrete barrier.

Police said Snyder was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed.

• Police said Khristopher W. Reynolds, 48, of Springfield, will be cited after a crash at 1:40 p.m. Aug. 4 at mile marker 92.1 in Kidder Township. Police said he was driving a 2016 Ford F350 northbound when it left its lane of travel and went down a steep embankment on the right berm. He was uninjured. Police said the vehicle was towed from the scene.

• Gianna E. Marro, 19, of Bloomsburg, was cited after a crash at 5:51 p.m. Aug. 12 at mile marker 81.9 in Penn Forest Township. Police said she was driving a 2011 Toyota southbound when it hydroplaned on the wet roadway, left the road and struck a concrete barrier. She was uninjured. The car sustained disabling damages.

• Zachary A. Levitt, 23, of Mount Laurel, New Jersey, was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed after a crash at 8:50 p.m. Aug. 12 at mile marked 97.2 in Kidder Township. Police said he was driving a 2007 Honda Accord during a heavy rainfall, rendering roadways hazardous for normal driving speeds. He lost control of the car and it crashed into the guide rail on the right side of the road. Levitt was uninjured. Police said the car sustained substantial damages and was towed from the scene.
