The Tamaqua Area School Board on Tuesday approved a number of personnel moves, including hiring two special education teachers.
The new teachers are Elaina Wilson of New Tripoli, and Courtney Kovatch of Nesquehoning, both starting at a salary of $43,631.
• The board also accepted the resignation of Melissa Gillett, a part-time paraprofessional, and hired two part-time paraprofessionals, Jeanine Edmonds and Amy Walburn, both of Tamaqua, at $12 an hour.
• The board approved the substitute teacher list and the 2023-24 bus driver list.
• Also resigning was Christine Kostecky, a middle school health room assistant, effective immediately, and Jordan Rehrig, of Tamaqua, was hired as substitute custodian at a rate of $11.04 an hour.
• Phoenix Ritchie, of New Ringgold, was hired as school police officer at a rate of $26.92 an hour, contingent upon the submission of necessary documentation.
• The board also appointed volunteer coaches as follows, Cole Eberts of Andreas, and Ryan Oldt of Tamaqua, wrestling, and Morgan Miller of Tamaqua, cheerleading.
• Amy Gardiner of Tamaqua was appointed as a band assistant at a stipend to be determined.
