‘Frozen Jr.’ on stage this weekend in Tamaqua

Disney’s “Frozen Jr.” will play at the Tamaqua Arts Center from Friday to Sunday - and already, tickets have sold out.

The musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the 2013 Disney film and the 2018 Broadway adaptation.

The cast includes 43 local youths led by director Amy Green, assistant director Heather Kerestus, musical director Aimee Hegedus and choreographer Jill Hartranft.

“Participating in performing arts is a great way for children to interact in a creative manner and it can also help with social and emotional development. I am so happy to be able to afford this opportunity to so many of our local youth,” Green said. “We cannot wait to welcome the community to Arendelle very soon.”

In addition to the three standard performances, a special sing-along relaxed performance will be held Sunday.

During the performance, actors will be introduced before the show, along with examples of lighting and sound to assist those with sensory needs to understand what to expect during the 60-minute performance. Special floor seating close to the stage will allow children to sit and interact with the actors on stage.

“We are looking forward to introducing live theatre to those who may not otherwise enjoy something like this, due to the lighting or sounds used in a standard production,” Green said.
