August 15, 1974 - Palmerton’s Deb Kurtz and Ann Irving both set new records at the annual Suburban Swim League championship meet at the Terry Hill pool in Breinigsville. Kurtz turns in a time of 41.68 to break the mark in the 50-meter breaststroke for the 15-and-over category. Irving is clocked in 34.40 in the 50-meter butterfly to establish a new mark in the 15-and-over age group. Palmerton, which finishes fourth in the team standings out of nine squads, also receives a first place from Chris Engle in the 11-and-12 50 freestyle with a time of 33.55.
