Jury convicts woman of simple assault

A Carbon County jury on Wednesday acquitted a Lansford woman, who swung a knife at her neighbor, of aggravated assault and simple assault with injury caused by negligence.

But it convicted Toyin Olowoyo of simple assault by physical menace and harassment.

A charge of disorderly conduct was dismissed.

President Judge Roger N. Nanovic presided over the trial, and impose punishment at a date yet to be set.

Assistant District Attorney Brian B. Gazo prosecuted the case. Attorney Mary Margaret Connors represented Olowoyo.

Olowoyo, 45, remains free on $500 cash bail.

Lansford Police Officer Joshua P. Tom charged Olowoyo with felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon; the two counts of simple assault; disorderly conduct, and harassment on March 11, 2022.
