Warrant issued for man who fled Lehighton police

A warrant has been issued for a Northampton County man who fled police during a stop Tuesday in the 300 block of Mahoning Street in Lehighton.

At 12:40 p.m., Lehighton police attempted to take William Lavenburg, 46, into custody on outstanding arrest warrants out of Northampton County.

Lavenburg fled on foot to his motorcycle against police orders and left the area.

A short pursuit followed in which Lavenburg operated his motorcycle at high rates of speed, and police called off the chase.

Lavenburg has been charged with fleeing and eluding officers, flight to avoid apprehension, and numerous traffic related offenses.

Lavenburg is known to frequent Lehighton and Lehigh Township areas, and operates a 2014 blue and gray BMW sport style motorcycle.

Lavenburg is white, about 5-foot, 10-inches tall, and 230 pounds.

If seen, contact 911 and do not approach Lavenburg, who is considered armed and dangerous as per warrant indicators.
