Penn Forest eyes expanding event at park

With the success of this year’s fireworks day at the Penn Forest Township park, supervisors agreed to provide the park and recreation committee $1,000 toward next year’s event.

At their regular meeting Aug. 5, supervisors discussed turning it into a daylong festival.

The committee was also given $500 for candy and supplies for the trunk-or-treat event on Oct. 29, and $500 for decorations for the Christmas tree lighting Nov. 25.

The Jim Thorpe cross-country team will use the park on Mondays and Thursdays from Aug. 14 to Sept. 28.

The concession stand at the park will have rain gutters installed for $1,400.

Lehighton Ambulance Association managers came to the meeting and gave a services presentation, then answered questions.
