State police - Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton reported the following incidents:

• Police were summoned at 5:47 p.m. July 25 to Route 248 eastbound in Bowmanstown to investigate a two-vehicle crash.

They said Michael J. Hausknecht, 43, of Lehighton, was driving a 2021 Dodge Ram 1500 in the left lane of traffic when he abruptly merged into the right lane, traveled off the road and struck a 2011 Hyundai Elantra that was parked on the right shoulder of the road by Emily L. Binder, 19, also of Lehighton, pushing it into the guard rail. Police said she was not in the vehicle at the time.

Police said Hausknecht was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Carbon Campus, Franklin Township, to be treated for suspected injuries.

Hausknecht was cited. The vehicles were towed from the scene.

• A 29-year-old Jim Thorpe woman was charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance after a traffic stop at 8:51 a.m. July 28 on the Sgt. Stanley Hoffman Boulevard, Lehighton.

Police said she was stopped for a violation while driving a 2005 Ford Focus.

• Police said a 16-year-old Palmerton boy was charged with endangering the welfare of a child after they were called to a Safe2Say report on Horseshoe Drive, Towamensing Township.

Police said the victim is a 10-year-old girl from Palmerton.

The incident happened between midnight June 17 and midnight July 15.

• A 28-year-old Kunkletown woman was charged with harassment by physical contact after police responded to an incident at 10:58 a.m. July 31.

It happened on Ash Lane in Polk Township.

• A 28-year-old Wind Gap man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and/or alcohol after a traffic stop.

Police said they stopped him in a 2010 Volkswagen Jetta at 12:20 a.m. July 30 at the intersection of Appalachian National Scenic Trail and North Broadway in Wind Gap.
