Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. worship service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:30 a.m.

Tamaqua Seniors

The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 20 with 22 members in attendance. President Mary Bittle opened the meeting with the reading “God Loves You.”

The group meets at 1 p.m. every Thursday at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Food Pantry

American Primitive Methodist Church working in partnership with the Salvation Army will distribute food twice a month. The second Wednesday of each month from 2 to 5 p.m. and the third Wednesday from 10 a.m.-noon and 4 to 5:30 p.m.

Fundraiser and concert

The Cressona Band will hold a fundraiser at the Wheel on Aug. 3. Both locations are participating. Dine in or take out, a portion of your order goes to The Cressona Band.

Summer Celebration

Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network and the Tamaqua Ministerial Association are hosting a community “Summer Celebration” beginning at 6:30 p.m. on Aug. 6 at Trinity United Church of Christ on Lafayette Street in Tamaqua.

Once again, the evening of music, message and fellowship features the Blue Mountain Community Church Praise Band led by Pastor Jennifer Eckhart. Members of the Tamaqua Ministerial Association will deliver short messages between praise sets. Messages will be delivered by the Revs. Rick Clemson, Primitive Methodist Church; Cindy White, Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church; and Debra Forney, First United Methodist Church. Other Tamaqua pastors also will participate in the service. In the past, the evening closes with a fellowship time.

A freewill offering will be taken. All are welcome.

Calvary Lewistown

Pastor Kimberly A. Leskowich will offer the message at the 10:30 a.m. worship service at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle. Sunday schools is scheduled for 9:15 a.m. and evening service at 6:30 p.m. with Terry Gerber speaking.

Prayer and Share at 7 p.m. on Aug. 2.

The annual Sunday school all day picnic will be held Aug. 6 following the morning worship service. Covered dish meal, fellowship games a hot dog roast and a devotional by Pastor Kim.

Rush-Ryan Seniors

The Rush-Ryan-Delano senior citizens met on July 11 for their annual picnic. 43 members were in attendance. The group also met on July 25 with 36 members in attendance. July birthdays were celebrated by Sherry Herb and Maryann Fisher. Members on the sick list include Doris Brobst and Lucille Spaar.

The group meets the at 1 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the white church, Barnesville. Anyone 55 and older is invited to attend.

Luncheon

Pottsville Christian Women’s Club is hosting a luncheon “Frolicking with the Flock” at 11:30 a.m., Aug. 15 at Grace Evangelical Free Church, Cressona.

Speaker is Liz Bryant of Fall Church, VA with special music by Sammi Sylvester and Dale Hurst from MedExpress will offer information on choosing urgent care, ER or PCP.
