The deadline for nominations for the newest class of Lehighton Area High School’s “Graduates of Distinction” is Monday.

The program is designed to recognize alumni of the Lehighton Area School District who have achieved success in their occupational field or who have served their community or humanity in a positive way.

Applications are available at LEAF-foundation.org or by contacting Tim Tkach via email at sharptkach@yahoo.com. Completed applications may be mailed to Lehighton Education & Athletic foundation, c/o Awards Selection Committee, P.O. Box 370, Lehighton, PA 18235. They may also be dropped off at the Larry Markley Insurance Agency, located at 5th and Coal streets in Lehighton.

A seven-person committee comprised of educators, business people, and other professionals will select the nominees. Those selected will be notified by Sept. 15.

The inductees will be honored during a reception at the Lehighton American Legion in October. They will also have their names added to the Graduates of Distinction Wall of Honor located at the entrance to the gymnasium located in the Lehighton Elementary Center.
