Ice cream tonight

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church folks are heading to Rita’s in Gilbert at 6:30 p.m. for ice cream and a game night out tonight. Folks are to meet there and all are welcome.

If it rains, folks will meet at the church for ice cream and fun is the notice.

Missions meal

The West End Missions Meal offered at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, will take place at 4:30 p.m. tomorrow.

Legion Honor Guard

The American Legion Honor Guard practice, Post 927, is set for 6 p.m., Thursday.

The group has provided official services since 1947.

Free Friday Flick

St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, is holding its Free Fourth Friday Family Fun Flick at about 8:30 p.m.

Showings will be on the lawn behind the St. Peter’s building (924 Rt. 115). Viewers are asked to bring a lawn chair or blanket. (Movie rain-dates are the following Friday.)

This month’s showing is Family Camp, a comedic look at Christian Family Camping, complete with yurt sharing, competitive games, and faith & family bond testing.

Two services held

Salem-St. Paul’s, Kresgeville, will have its regular worship service at 9:30 a.m. Sunday with the focus being a healing service.

Then at 2 p.m. there will be a Communion services at Getz Personal Care Home in Jonas.

Park concert

The Steel Creek Trio is slated to play at the Ross Township Concert in the Park series on Sunday from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The park is next to the municipal building on Anchorage Road.

Farewell Sunday

Nate Sassoon, organist at Effort UMC for the 11 a.m. Sunday service, will be leaving the church on July 30 to further his education. He will be pursuing a Master’s Degree.

A cake & coffee reception will be held after the service Sunday in conjunction with the church picnic to wish him much success.

Kick-off canceled

The kick-off event for the Pleasant Valley Cubs for this coming Sunday at the Polk Township Vol. Fire Company’s home has been canceled.

It is hoped it will be rescheduled.

However, there will be a Homecoming game on Sept. 17.

VBS in action

Rocky Railway is the theme of the VBS ongoing this week at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church.

If anyone would still like to donate any breakfast treats for the young participants, here are some suggestions: mini bagels and cream cheese, mini donuts, donut holes, granola bars, yogurt, fruit snacks, cheese/crackers, etc.

Just drop the donations off in McCawley Hall on the designated tables.

Community bingo

The American Legion Building, Gilbert, is again holding its open-to-community Bingo on Monday. Card sales begin at 6:30 p.m. and game calling begins at 7 p.m.

Saylorsburg concert

The SteelCreek Trio will play from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., on July 30 for the Concert in the Park Series at the Saylorsburg Park, next to the municipal building on Anchorage Road.

The band plays modern and classic country music.

Special opportunity

The Senior Centers of Monroe County have the opportunity make $50 for the Senior Center and the Senior who will take a one-hour survey by phone (or Zoom) can also make $20 for himself or herself as per Monroe County Seniors’ Express Times when taking said survey for Temple University College of public Health.

The Garden of Giving in McMichaels, mailing address 2556 Rising Hill Rd., Saylorsburg, is seeking someone who will offer his/her time and talent to be a grant writer for the Garden.

Habitat sales

Monroe County Habitat for Humanity continues its warehouse sales of various items such as tools, new windows, free-standing tubs, patio furniture, etc., from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., every Tuesday and Thursday, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. the last Saturday of the month.
