Hawk Mountain upcoming events

Hawk Mountain has a few events for the end of July.

Hawk Mountain is located at 1700 Hawk Mountain Road, Kempton.

• July 29: Guided Hike to North Lookout, 10 a.m.-noon, free for members and students, fee for non-members. Join a Hawk Mountain educator and the Appalachian Trail Conservancy for a guided hike to North Lookout and learn about the importance of the Kittatinny Ridge for bird migration and raptor conservation. Registration required. Meet at Visitor Center.

• July 29: Nature Under Your Nose: Nature Photography Class, 10 a.m.-noon. Through lecture and on-site practice, professional photographer David Greaves will present insights on observing nature and using basic techniques to snap great photos in the wild. Registration required. There is a fee.

• July 30: Wild Edible Plants of Pennsylvania, 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. or 2-3:30 p.m. Join Debbie Naha-Koretzky, aka the “Wild Edibles Lady,” in discovering the edible plants of Hawk Mountain with a presentation and foraging walk. Copies of her book Foraging Pennsylvania and New Jersey will be available for purchase and author signing. Registration required. There is a fee. Meet at Outdoor Amphitheater.
