July 21, 1981 - Scott Lazorick finishes off a five-hitter to lead Jim Thorpe to a 5-3 victory over the Hazleton Americans in a District 18 Little League tournament. After Thorpe gained a 5-2 advantage the day before, rain suspends the contest. Lazorick allows a run in the home third in the resumption, but tosses shutout ball over the final three frames to preserve the victory. Lazorick finishes with nine strikeouts. Thorpe’s offense is supplied by Dave Brown’s three-run homer and a pair of bases-loaded walks.
