Weatherly man charged in domestic dispute case

A Weatherly man has been charged with choking a woman during a domestic dispute.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by officer Michael Eyer of the Weatherly Police Department in the case against Trevor Reis:

On July 2, Weatherly Police were dispatched for a domestic dispute in the 200 block of West Main Street. A woman reported that Reis, 30, grabbed her around the neck and threw her to the floor.

She told police she and Reis had an argument that turned physical.

She said first Reis threw a water bottle at her that missed and then moved toward her. She said she slapped him and backed away.

She said Reis then lunged at her and grabbed her around the throat, drug her alongside the bed, picked her up and slammed her onto the floor.

While she was on the floor, she said Reis tightened his grip to the point she was gasping for air and trying to get his hand off her throat.

Reis told police the woman slapped his face, then he advanced toward her, saying he would kill her.

He got on top of her and began choking before letting go and going downstairs, police reported.

Reis faces charges of strangulation, simple assault, terroristic threats, and harassment.

He is the Carbon County Correctional Facility in lieu of $20,000 cash bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing July 12 before District Judge Eric M. Schrantz of Jim Thorpe.
