The Monroe County Commissioners approved nearly $300,000 in costs related to the Courthouse Renovation and Expansion Project at their meeting on Wednesday.
The costs included three change orders and the relocation of a pole and cable.
The first change order was the highest at $225,792 Wind Gap Electric. It was for additional functionality and cameras.
The second was from LTS Plumbing and Heating for miscellaneous upgrades in the amount of $3,197.79. And last was Lobar Construction for additional control joints and support angles in the amount of $6,071.49.
The commissioners approved a Letter of Intent with Verizon Pennsylvania LLC to relocate a Verizon pole and cable facilities. The cost of the relocation is $62,411.26.
The total of the three change orders and the relocation is $297,472.54.
Commissioner John Christy said in January that the county placed an additional $5 million into the budget to cover change orders. At that time, the county had received more than $1 million in change order requests. The overall cost of the project was expected to cost $66 million.
Construction began in 2021 as a two-phase project with completion in June 2023. A video update in May on the county’s website projects completion in 2024.
The commissioners did not make any comment about the courthouse project their recent meeting.
