Commissioner Rocky Ahner said his son was in a serious crash a few years ago, and is lucky to be alive.
“I cannot stress this enough. Don’t let anybody drive drunk,” he said. “Please don’t do it. There are lot of people I know that have died in accidents. It affects the entire family.
“I think we need to stress that very highly. Do not let anybody drink and drive,” Ahner said.
Commissioner Chris Lukasevich said it’s also important to stress to drivers who are under 21, who are newer drivers, that impaired driving begins with the first drink.
“A simple 0.02 blood alcohol content can get you 12 to 18 month suspension, six to 48 months in jail and a $500 to $5,000 fine,” he said. “So, be conscientious when you’re going out with your friends. Have a designated driver.”
