Fire companies from two states and six counties battled a major commercial structure fire Sunday on Route 611 in Pocono Township, Monroe County.

The fire started around 7:30 a.m. at Fountain Court along Route 611 in Bartonsville.

Pocono Township Fire Department officials said when they arrived there was smoking coming out of the back of the building.

The building, which contains a mix of professional offices and shopping, is a total loss, fire officials said.

Businesses at Fountain Court include Subway, a Vietnamese restaurant, Elegant Bridal shop and a nail salon. Terrery Dental is also located in the building.

The shopping center, built in 1990, has 54,326 feet of rental space located on 5.20 acres.

Route 611 was closed from Colonial Auto to Smugglers Cove while crews battled the fire.

The Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshall is investigating.
