Hoagie sale ends

McMichaels UMC’s hoagie sale ends today. Pickup is at the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 29. Call Pastor Ed at 610-597-1030 to place an order.

Free dinner today

Zion Lutheran, Brodheadsville, is having a free drive-in community dinner at 5 p.m. today. The menu is a 6-inch hoagie, macaroni salad, chips, watermelon, dessert and a water bottle - a nice, easy no-cook meal to kick off summer, says a church spokesperson.

Polk Veterans Commission

The next meeting of the Polk Township Veterans Memorial Commission is set for 6 p.m. today.

AA meetings

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church, Brodheadsville, says will be no Eucharistic Adoration on Friday because of the flea market.

Triple sale ahead

The Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary is hosting a yard sale/craft fair/vendor sale and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., rain or shine, Saturday, at the Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company complex in Kresgeville.

Quiet Valley events

It will be a busy day at Quiet Valley, Monroe County’s living, historical farm on Saturday.

Featured are a Children’s Day and a Civil War encampment.

Activities take place between 10 a.m. and 3:30 p.m.

Garden tour

The Monroe County Garden Club will present its popular Garden Tour of local beautiful gardens from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.

Tickets may be purchased in advance at Stonewall Garden Center, Route 447 Canadensis; Ross & Ross Nursery, 5801 Paradise Valley Rd, Cresco; and The Potting Shed, 931 Ann St., Stroudsburg.

Tickets may be also purchased the day of the tour at Bryant Park, Stroudsburg.

Solar gazing

Polk Township’s Walking Park’s northeast field will be the site of a solar gazing event 4 p.m. Saturday.

VBS begins

• St. Peter’s UMC, Saylorsburg, begins its VBS on Sunday. The VBS program will include a Bible story, songs, crafts, a snack and other activities.

• Effort UMC’s VBS begins Sunday. On Sunday, the classes will be from 12:30 to 3 p.m., with lunch provided and on Monday through Friday, the classes will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. evenings. Meals will be provided.

West End car show

Pocono Old-Tyme Farm Equipment Association is hosting the 27th annual West End Car Show on June 25 at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert, rain or shine.

Gates open at 8 a.m. and registration also begins at 8 a.m. Children under 12 are admitted for free, but there is a charge for admission and car registration as well.

Parking is free.

There will be music by Chris Eckert and pedal tractor pulls.

Flea market and craft spaces are available. For more information, call 610-381-5065 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Summer concert

The first Ross Township summer concert is from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the park Sunday. It will feature Dave LaBar.

The other two concerts are July 30 and Aug. 27. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Summer worship time

Salem-St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Kresgeville, is back to its summer schedule, with one worship service on Sundays, at 9:30 a.m.

That schedule will continue through Labor Day weekend.

The church youth continue to collect deodorant for Street2Feet (homeless people). Donations may be placed in the container in the lobby.

Kids camp set

Chestnuthill Township Park, Brodheadsville, will host a kids summer camp from 9 a.m.-3 p.m., June 26-Aug.4. The camp is Monday through Friday and will not be held July 4.
