Carbon County opens bid to replace wall

A deteriorated wall in Lansford would cost just under $400,000 to replace if the project would move forward.

On Thursday, Carbon County opened the sole bid for the Brimble Wall replacement and street reconstruction project in Lansford. The project is a Community Development Block Grant project for fiscal years 2019 and 2020.

The wall in question is located between Ridge and Snyder streets and is “a mix of stacked stone, concrete and 100 years of patches,” borough council President Bruce Markovich previously said.

Heim Construction Company Inc. of Orwigsburg submitted a bid of $398,105.07 for the work.

This is the second time the project has been put out for bid. In April, no one bid on the project.

The county tabled the bid for no more than two weeks to allow for the proper departments to review the bid and determine if a contract will be awarded.
