Now that Carbon County Children and Youth Services has moved into its new home at 525 Iron St., Lehighton, that leaves space for two additional county offices to relocate for more space.
On Thursday, the county commissioners announced that the public defender’s office, which moved into 44 Susquehanna St. temporarily, will move into the former Children and Youth offices at 76 Susquehanna St. beginning next week.
Once they move, the office of planning and development, which has been at 410 Center Ave. in the heights section of Jim Thorpe while renovations were being done, will move into its new home in 44 Susquehanna St. within the next two weeks.
“IT and maintenance have been extremely busy,” Commissioners’ Chairman Wayne Nothstein said.
In a related matter, the commissioners voted to end a cleaning agreement with Gloria Otto of Jim Thorpe for cleaning in Planning and Development at 410 Center Ave., effective June 30. This motion was due to the upcoming moves.
