Faith Alive

Faith Alive Church, 678 Pine St., Palmerton, holds two services each Sunday with Pastor Rob Timlin.

At 8:30 a.m. is the contemporary service followed by Sunday school for all ages at 9:45 a.m., and traditional service at 11 a.m. Worship in person or on Facebook live.

Sunday: 6 p.m. Youth Group

June 18: 8:30 a.m. worship, 9:45 a.m. Sunday school, 11 a.m. worship

June 20: 10 a.m. Quilting Group

June 19-22: 5 p.m. Vacation Bible School

June 25: 10 a.m. Combined worship

Every Wednesday: Prayer and Praise at 7 p.m.

Free community meal

St. John’s UCC, 891 Columbia Ave., Palmerton, will hold a free community meal from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

The meal consists of pork, sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and dessert.

Qigong classes

There will be free qigong classes in the Palmerton Borough Park beginning in July.

Qigong is an ancient Chinese energy exercise suitable for all ages. It does gentle, easy, slow moving movements coordinated to music that can be done standing or seated.

The classes will take place on July 3, 10, 17, 24 and 31; as well as Aug. 7, 14, 21 and 28 in the park on the Fourth Street side by the benches, beginning at 11 a.m. If you would like to practice qigong seated, you are asked to brig a metal folding chair.

Historical society

The Palmerton Area Historical Society will have its free monthly program at 6:30 p.m. Monday in the Palmerton Library’s Knight’s Gallery.

The speaker will be Brenda Morris, a longtime active member of the Walnutport Canal Association. Her presentation will be “The Walnutport Canal, Then & Now.”

The public is invited to attend and the building is handicap accessible.

July’s monthly program will be held at 6:30 p.m. on July 10. David Taschler will present Part 2 of Palmerton “The Town That Zinc Built.”
